Police, Public Prosecution Service Review to be Delayed

We meet with Murray Segal and understand why the review needs to be delayed. It is for the best and I agree.

MEDIA RELEASE

Independent reviewer Murray Segal is recommending that he delay his review of the police and Public Prosecution Service response in the Rehtaeh Parsons case.

Mr. Segal met with the Parsons family this week. He concluded that he can complete a more thorough review once the court proceedings against two young men charged in the case are complete.

Justice Minister Lena Diab has accepted Mr. Segal’s recommendation to delay the review. She says that while she is eager to receive the review, she wants it to be as far-reaching and inclusive as possible, with meaningful recommendations for change.

The court case is ongoing against two men who face child pornography charges. Mr. Segal will resume his review immediately once the case concludes.
