One Year Memorial Stones

IMG_4501 - 1 Year StonesToday instead of staying in bed all day, I wanted to honour my daughter by doing something meaningful but until last night I didnt know what that would be. Then it came to me…Painting rocks is so therapeutic so I decided to paint them last night and go to all the places that Rehtaeh and I visited over the years that were special. Also, places that she loved in her community where I often saw her with friends…yelling out “hey Momma!” as I walked by with the doggies. I placed 16 stones in various places and brought my photographer with me. Jason and I took these beautiful shots. It was a great way to take a walk with my girl. Here are the stones.

I would like to invite everyone to create their own stones in memory of Rehtaeh and place them around their communities, in places that bring you tranquility, sharing messages of hope and change.

  1. I first saw her name, on Facebook – then I looked her up and found various news articles. Through Leah’s postings and actions to raise awareness I learned how strong and courage she is. I see how he love and grief for Rae combine to push her forward. I’ve come to greatly admire Leah- I’ve posted this many times because her strength amazes me.

I never met Rae, but I can see her beauty shine through pictures and postings. I never met Rae, but she is someone I’ve grown to love and miss.
